Privacy policy

This policy explains what happens to your information when you use DogTally. We wrote it in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email us at [email protected].

The short version

Our calculators run entirely in your browser. The weight, age, breed, and other numbers you type into a calculator never leave your device. We do not send them to a server and we do not store them anywhere. When you close the tab, that data is gone.

Beyond the calculators, we use standard web hosting and aggregate analytics to run the site. Details are below.

Calculator inputs

DogTally's puppy weight predictor, food portion calculator, dog age calculator, and any other calculators we add all run as client-side JavaScript. That means the calculation happens on your device, using your browser. No form data, dog names, weights, ages, or breed selections are transmitted to us or to any third party. We have no database of calculator inputs because we never receive them in the first place.

The formulas and reference data behind each calculator are documented on our /methodology/ page, with sources drawn from published veterinary and breed-registry data.

Hosting

DogTally is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes standard web request data, such as IP address and browser type, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. This is separate from the calculators, which do not send data to Cloudflare or to us.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies, and Google Analytics 4, which may set cookies in your browser to distinguish visits and visitors. We use this data in aggregate to see how many people visit DogTally and which pages they read.

Analytics data is aggregate. We look at traffic patterns and page performance, not individual visitor identities.

If you would rather not be tracked by Google Analytics, you have two options. You can adjust your browser settings to block cookies, or you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available from Google.

Accounts and personal data

DogTally does not have user accounts. You do not need to sign up or log in to use any calculator. We do not have a newsletter at this time. We do not sell personal data, because we do not collect the kind of personal data that would be worth selling.
